A Purpose Driven Life Chapter 8 - You Were Planned for God's Pleasure
Chapter Overview: God did not need to create me, but he chose to create me for His enjoyment. He smiled when I was born.
2011 (40 years old)
Rick does a great little bit of writing on the meaning of worship. (It isn't just singing or making music) It brought to mind Eric Little in Chariots of Fire and how he tried to get his sister to understand his need to run. 'Jenny, I believe God made me for a purpose. But He also made me fast, and when I run I feel his pleasure.' I love how they did that in the movie where he is coming down the straightaway at the Olympics and throws his head back as he's running pell-mell for the finish line.
That picture of doing (and finding mutual pleasure in) what God created you to do feels so right.

I was planned for Gods pleasure. What common task could I start doing as if I was doing it directly for Jesus? I try to do this already to some degree - I would say I just need to do it more consciously and better - my daily work routine. I need to try and enjoy life more. Sometimes it's easy for me to get grumpy with Ewa (my wife). Sometimes maybe I have a good reason, sometimes not. But I can't let it get me this grumpy this often.
